Contrary to typical placement, DADUs can also be located in front yards. However, it’s uncommon for lots to have sufficient space available in the front rather than the backyard.
This project is a strong example of emerging urban housing opportunities, where a single lot can serve three different households, each with its own space and privacy. By working within existing developed areas, this approach supports densification without contributing to urban sprawl or pushing residents farther from the city's core.
We achieved this by adding two DADUs: one designed to accommodate a small family with two bedrooms, and another suited for a larger household, featuring three bedrooms and its own garage.
Projects like this highlight the potential within our city to thoughtfully increase density. As a firm, we look forward to helping Seattle grow in a way that is design-forward, community-minded, and responsive to evolving housing needs.
