Tierra Nueva - UPDATE

The last time we talked about Tierra Nueva (TN) it was a bit messy. The water situation was not looking good, and we were scrambling to figure out a new solution. Well, the good new is that TN now has a plentiful supply of clean water!

When we had last talked to Agros we had suggested that they bring in an engineering team as the size of the system that we were looking at doing was getting rather large.  They contracted with a great crew in Gonzalez-Suarez engineers who helped them to design and build a 7km municipal level water transmition line. Michael Spillane and Tyson Wright from Herrera Integrated Environmental and Engineering Services went down and reviewed the proposed project and were very happy with the design.

Running from a clear flowing spring in the mountains (although everything is in the mountains around there), the water is brought to the site via a new pipe system that also provides potable water to communities along its route.

And to add to the good news, housing construction is well underway with a prefabricated system from Honudras. Tierra Nueva is shaping up to be a model village! For more info, check outhttp://www.agros.org/ag/our-villages/nicaragua/tierra-nueva/
