A Development Bibliography

We are starting on the next chapter of our work with Agros International. For a while we have been talking about making a best practice manual tailored to Agros’s development model. We are happy to announce that we have just started that work with the first chapter of that manual. We are beginning with the chapter focused on site selection as it is naturally the first step in developing a new village. As part of this work we have been finding ourselves neck deep in various books and websites chasing down information on things like how to build a methane bio-digester or how to measure turbidity in streams.

We have often wished that there was a curated bibliography devoted to small to mid sized development work. There are plenty of well-built sites out there with information for large scale organizations or sites that have such a large amount of information that you can’t find what you need (I’m looking at you, USAID). What doesn’t exist, so far as we know, is a site or book that has a comprehensive selection of technologies, methods and resources aimed at the mid sized practitioner. So we thought we would try to make one. Well, not really. We are not that ambitious or tech savvy. We are simply going to be cataloging those resources we find very useful on our blog. But we do hope that this list will turn out to be useful for others. If you have something you think we should look at, please let us know!

Thanks,

TGS
